My 5 month old male kitten suddenly stopped finishing his meals. He used to eat everything but now he leaves half the wet food in the bowl. I am an accountant so I want a direct answer. Which wet food do picky kittens actually finish? I need something that works fast.
Sounds like he is just being a pain. My Rex is 4 and a gray shorthair who is aggressive when scared, but he eats whatever I put down. Try the cheap stuff I posted about in cheap wet food. If he still refuses, he is just being bad. My Blue is 2 and a dsh, she is picky too but she eats when she is hungry enough.
Heather, sorry about that! 🐱 My Milo is a 3 year old orange tabby who sheds badly and is also a picky eater. I found that mixing in a little warm water helps. Have you tried warming it up? I saw a thread about that here warming up wet food. It makes the smell stronger. Nora is a 1 year old mixed and she is curious about everything but will eat whatever is warm.
As a vet tech I say check the texture. Some kittens prefer gravy over pate. See gravy or pate. My Jasper is a 7 year old tabby with hyperthyroidism and is very picky now. Maple is a 3 year old russian blue and she eats fine. If he is healthy otherwise, it is likely preference.
Oh no, that is so stressful! Rocco is a 5 year old american shorthair and very cuddly, but he is so sensitive to changes. I had to slowly mix new food with old for him. I wrote down exactly what worked for me in my own thread transitioning Rocco. It took a week but he is safe and happy. Maybe try that slow transition method?
