Community guidelines
Short version of the rules we actually enforce.
Search first, then post
Most questions have come up before, and the old thread usually has the follow-up you want. If you find one that's close, reply there and say what's different about your cat.
Give the details
Age, sex, spayed or neutered, how many cats and litter boxes, what changed recently, what the vet has already checked. People can't help with "my cat is acting weird".
We don't diagnose
Members share experience, not diagnoses. Straining in the litter box with little or nothing coming out, not eating for more than a day, labored breathing, or anything you think is poisoning: stop reading and call a vet. A male cat who can't pee is an emergency.
Be decent
Disagree with the advice, not the person. No piling on people for declawing, outdoor cats or diet choices made years ago.
No selling
No selling or rehoming animals for money, no breeders advertising, no affiliate links. Rehoming for free goes in Adoption & rescue, with the shelter or rescue named.
Moderation
Moderators merge duplicate threads, move posts to the right category and lock threads that turn into arguments. If we remove a post, we'll tell you why.
