Olive got a mat behind her ear that i cant seem to get out. she is a 6 year old gray shorthair and very picky. i work long shifts so i cant do the slow de-matting at home. thinking about a shave down but worried about the cost and the stress it might cause her. anyone done this recently?
taking my cat to a groomer for a shave down
my 8 year old mix had a shave down last month. cost 185. he was fine but it was a hassle to book. check out price range for cat grooming in my area for other costs. i think the stress is worth it to save the skin.
my black dsh Shadow has skin allergies and hates being touched on the head. i used a calming spray and wrapped her in a towel. it helped a lot. see keeping my cat calm at the groomer for more tips. if she is too stressed you might need to ask for sedation but that costs more.
Ziggy is a food motivated 6 year old orange tabby. i brought him treats to the groomer. he was eating them right after. also check feeding after a cat shave down for what to give him when he gets home.
thanks for the input. Olive is a picky eater so i am worried she wont eat after the stress. i saw my cat wont eat after the vet which scared me a bit. i will try the calming spray idea. i will post an update in a new thread once i know how she reacts.
