oh no! that is so frustrating! i did this with Mochi when we got her. you have to be patient. i found this thread really helpful when i was stressed about her not eating the rescue food issue. basically you mix them together. start with 90% old and 10% new. increase the new food slowly over a week. did you try mixing them?

yeah i mixed it but he still goes for the old bowl first. if he has the choice he picks the old stuff. i read somewhere that you have to remove the old food completely but im worried he will starve

if you leave the old food out he will always eat that. it is like leaving a pie on the counter next to the diet food. remove the old food. he will eat the new stuff. i did this with Mittens when i switched her to the lighter food transitioning adult cats. kittens are tough. if he goes 24 hours without eating call the vet. but usually they just get hungry.

I completely agree with @mikej64. My Sam was a bit of a drama queen when I switched her food, but once I removed the old option, she figured it out quickly. I just want to check, are you sure the new food isn't the one that was recalled recently? the recall details I know it sounds paranoid, but better safe than sorry. Also, make sure the food is fresh. Sometimes kittens are picky about the smell. warming the food might help bring out the scent if he is ignoring it.
