Best enzymatic cleaners for accidents

Daisy had an accident on the living room carpet again. I used a regular cleaner but the smell is still there and she keeps going to that spot. What enzymatic cleaner actually works for removing pet odors from carpet? I need to stop her from marking that specific area.

Oh no, that is so stressful. I am so sorry! We had a similar issue with Ginger when he was a kitten, but he was more about jumping on counters Ginger keeps jumping on the counters than soiling. Does the carpet have a lot of pile? I feel like low pile is easier to clean.

I am sorry to hear that, Holly. I used to have a similar problem with Milo before we adjusted his routine. He is a 12-year-old tuxedo with arthritis in his hips, so mobility was a factor for him Milo is avoiding the box lately. Did you check if Daisy is having any medical issues? Sometimes accidents are related to health, not just cleaning.

Hey Holly! I use a specific enzymatic cleaner that I found in this thread What enzymatic cleaner do you use. It works great for hard floors, but I have heard that carpet needs a different approach. You might want to look into steam cleaning after using the enzyme to really lift the odor out of the fibers.

It is so hard when the little ones get anxious and act out. Sam is a 6-year-old mix and he is quite anxious too Sam is really anxious lately. Maybe the smell is triggering her anxiety? I found that removing the source of the stress helped Olive when she was sensitive about her food Olive's stomach is so sensitive. Try to keep the area calm and clean.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the enzymatic cleaner from that thread. But I am worried about the deep fibers. I saw this thread about deep cleaning carpets with pets Deep cleaning carpets with pets and it mentioned baking soda. Is that safe for cats? I do not want to make it worse.

Baking soda is generally safe for cats, but I would be careful with any new product. I would recommend calling your vet today to rule out any underlying medical causes for the accidents, especially since she is a 9-year-old tabby. It is better to be safe than sorry.
