durable posts for big cats

Brutus is 6 and a huge maine coon. The cheap posts fall over or get shredded in a week. What is actually durable enough for a cat this size?

Oh, I am so sorry, Slane. It is so frustrating when they ignore the expensive stuff. Have you seen this thread about ignoring posts? It goes into a lot of detail about why they might prefer the couch texture.

read it. Brutus likes the base of the sofa. tried sisal. he just knocks it over. need something he can't tip.

I have a 7 year old black cat named Shadow who is very similar. He is shy but when he scratches he goes for the bottom. I found that sisal vs carpet was a big factor for him. He hated the carpet. But I also think the height matters. Does he stretch fully?

yes full stretch. 18 inch posts are too short. he wants the 30 inch kind but they are wobbly. wobbly trees thread helped but my floor is hardwood so no screws allowed.

Use a weighted base. My bengals are 6 years old and they destroy everything. A standard base is trash. I bought a concrete base and wrapped it myself. Check out DIY post ideas for how to do it cheap. It is the only thing that survived.
