Dealing with Puff's hairball issues

Puff is 3. White. Hairballs bad. Vets say expensive meds. I am mechanic. I want cheap. What works without draining wallet?

Dre is 8. Missing ear. No hairball issues. Puff is a disaster.

Hi Dre! Sorry Puff is giving you trouble. Hairballs can be pricey to treat if they get bad.

I found that adding a little fiber helps a lot. I use a specific supplement for Holly. It is not the fancy stuff. Check out this thread about fiber I made earlier. It lists what I buy. It is cheaper than the vet prescription ones.

Oh my gosh, hairballs are the worst!! I am so sorry Puff is having a hard time! Bella is a dsh so she does not have long hair, but Felix gets them sometimes!

I brush mine every day. It takes 10 minutes. You can save money by doing it yourself! Check my post on brushing white cats. White fur shows the tangles so well. It is so satisfying when it is all smooth!

I am overwhelmed by all the options. Pepper is 1. She is scared of the vacuum so I can not clean up the hair easily. Is brushing enough? Or do I need the fiber stuff Sharon mentioned? I want to do the right thing but I am confused.

The fiber is about $15 a month. It is generic. You can find it at the big warehouse stores. Not the pet shop. The pet shop marks it up.

Also, look at the pinned thread on general prevention. It has a checklist. It is basic but it covers the bases. It is not a cure, just maintenance. If Puff stops moving it, you must call the vet. Do not wait.
